CUMBERLAND include a host of new faces for their second Minor Counties game of the season this week-end.
Former Cockermouth opener Gregg Platten has moved to Barrow to sample Northern League cricket this season and has been in good form for his new club.
He gets the call for the three-day game against Norfolk which starts at Furness on Sunday.
Also included in the Cumberland side is 23-year-old left arm spinner Michael Baer (pictured) who has played for Lancashire and Middlesex seconds, as well as Loughborough University. Welsh born, he currently plays for Northern in the Liverpool Premier League.
Carlisle opener Marc Brown, who has been in good form for the city side this season, is set for his debut while Chris Thompson, who was unable to play in the opening match with Staffordshire, has confirmed his availability this time.
Thompson plays in the Bradford League for Bradford and Bingley where he is a useful all-rounder, batting in the middle order and often being used for his medium pace bowling.
Also set for his debut on Sunday is Martin Evans who has been recommended by former Cumberland skipper Marcus Sharp, who is currently unable to play because of work commitments.
Like Baer, Evans also plays in the Liverpool League where he has a reputation as a useful all-rounder.
The team will be: Jonathan Miles, Gregg Platten, Ikram Ullah (wicketkeeper), Gary Pratt, (captain), Marc Brown, James Smith, Chris Thompson, Martin Evans, Graham Dawson, Michael Baer and Chris Miller.
