In the Cumbria Cricket League Cleator thirds and Egremont seconds both had good victories on Sunday.
Playing at home to Workington thirds, Cleator thirds rattled-up 250-9 in their allotted overs with Gary Riley (79), Tom Sharpe (49) and Alan Hocking (26) among the runs.
Ben Kyte took 3-38 for Workington who were bowled-out for 164 despite good work from Paul Ferguson (38), Malcolm Wood (36) and Nick Wood (35). Johnny Moore (3-13) and Sharpe (3-19) were the key bowlers for Cleator.
At Whitehaven’s Playground visitors Egremont raced to 265-5 led by James Murphy (108).
By comparison the home third team didn’t find runs easy to come by and the ten men were bowled-out for 60. Lewis Wilson top-scored with 19. Ryan Burns (2-7) and Dion Barnes (2-11) were the main wicket-takers for Egremont.
Whitehaven were left with just a single point for their efforts while Workington managed to pocket six after the defeat against Cleator.
