Two unbeaten centuries were the highlight of last weekend's Cumbria League fixtures.

Cleator Thirds' Tom Sharp hit 112 not out and Alan Hocking 53 not out as Cleator defeated second placed Whitehaven Thirds by 106 runs. Gilmour with 4 for 19 and Adam Hodgson (3 for 7) did the damage with the ball.

It was Cleators fourth straight win this season although Whitehaven have themselves started the season well with earlier wins over Egremont and Gosforth.

Nick Wood was unbeaten on 111 and was well supported by Matthew Lowden as Workington Thirds reached 197 for 2 in their 40 overs at Egremont.

However, solid batting from Egremont ensured that they secured a losing draw, falling just 12 runs short at the end of their 40 overs.

It was the second consecutive week that Workington were involved in a close finish.

British Steel had come within one run of Workington the week before and they maintained their promising start to the season with
a five wicket win at Gosforth, Josh Burns (29) and Sam Carter (24) top scoring.

Earlier Carter had taken two wickets for no runs and was ably supported by Jack Burgess (2 for 2) and Dan Rice (2 for 19)
