CLEATOR thoirds are setting a hot pace at the top of the Cumbria Cricket League, racing to their fourth win in as many matches at the week-end.
They had restricted Egremont seconds to 149-9 and then knocked them off for the loss of just four wickets.
John Brocklebank (53) and James Murphy (47) had held the Egremont innings together with Seb Saunders taking 2-11 for Cleator.
Cleator collected their fourth win on 150-4 led by Stephen Carson (55), Paul Davidson (29) and Glen Riley (25). Daniel Brennan took 2-28 for Egremont.
Gosforth are their nearest rivals with three wins from four games – the third of which came against Workington thirds.
Johnny Hoult took 3-27 as Workington were bowled-out for 118 with Phil Armstrong top-scoring on 37.
Then Stuart Dickinson hit 44 when Gosforth responded with 120-5 to collect their 18 points. Darren Wood took 3-10.
British Steel got off the mark with their first win of the season, beating Whitehaven thirds by five wickets.
Darren Bawden (47) and Jonathan Stewart (31) top-scored but they were bowled-out for 166. Gary Stewardson took 3-36 and Sam Carter had 2-10 for the Steelmen.
Then it was Stewardson (68) who shone with the bat for the Steels and with the help of Barry Warbrick lifted the visitors to a winning score of 167-5. Mike Baker (2-17) and Stewart (2-23) had the best bowling retuns for Whitehaven.
