Denton Holme had a big win over Arthuret and Esk in the Cumbria Junior League for Under-15’s.

Batting first Denton Holme hit 202-6 with major contributions from Ben Kelly (33ret) and Lewis Bellas (31ret).

When Arthuret and Esk batted Bellas also shone with the ball, taking 2-9 and as Steve Swindlehurst took 2-10 the visitors were bowled out for just 50.

Penrith Gold were also big winners in their inter-club clash with Penrith Green.

The Green were restricted to 85-5 despite a big effort from Aaron Pamphilon (31ret) as Nick Birtle took 2-10.

Penrith Gold won handily on 86-1 as Jack Dulson (35ret) and Birtle (24no) carried them through.

Cleator beat Workington by 30 runs after they had scored 138-1, led by Sam Jakobson (30ret), James Rogers (30ret), Adam Hodgson (30ret) and Robert Carlill (25no).

Workington made 108-4 in reply with Jake Daniel (33ret) and Nick Wood (30ret) doing best with the bat.

Wigton restricted Lanercost to 77-6 after they had batted first and made a useful score of 169-4. Josh Dixon (33 ret), Jack Bullock (32 ret) and Mikey Hill (24no) were the top run-makers for Wigton with Liam Rogers (31ret) among the runs and Matthew Coombs taking 4-20 for Lanercost.

Best with the ball for Wigton were John Honeyman (3-9) and Richard Sowerby (2-7).

There wasn’t much in it between Appleby and Carlisle and plenty of batsmen got among the runs.

Ryan Davison (35ret), James Nicholson (33ret) and Chris Kirkpatrick (24) scored best in Appleby’s 138-4 while Carlisle’s 134-3 included good contributions from Zak Hill (34ret), Abhay Nair (30ret) and Harry Earl (29).

Seascale scored 137-6 against Keswick with Matty McEwan (31 ret) and Alan Kirkham (24no) leading the way. Matthew Clark took 2-31 for Keswick.

In reply Keswick made 117-7 with the foundations laid by Simon Grundy (31ret) and James Benson (30 ret). Michael Dickinson (2-2) and Mikey Van-Mourik (2-24) were the leading Seascale bowlers.

In the Under-13’s League Ryan Clubley had a very good all-round game for Workington against Cleator.

He made 22 in a Workington score of 119-3 and then took 4-3 as Cleator were pegged back to 70-7.

John Burns (30ret), Matthew Lowden (21) and Will Fennell (17no) were also among the runs for Workington while Chris Sharpe top-scored with 24 for Cleator.

Great Corby had a ten wicket win against Nunwick Black after bowling out the home side for 25. Ben Purdham (4-12), Dan Swann (3-9) and Neil Little (2-2) did the damage.

Purdham was 22 not out when Great Corby made a winning reply of 29 without loss.

The other Nunwick side did much better, restricting Lanercost to 57-9 after they had racked-up 126-9.

Ryan Mounsey (31ret) top-scored for Nunwick while Alistair Weymouth (3-0) and Sam Tiffen (2-12) shone with the ball. Martin Usher made 30 retired out of the meagre Lanercost total.

There were some good bowling performances for Lanercost from Jacob Lyall (3-27), Kieran Brown (3-20) and James Crabtree (2-14).

Sam Bell had a good day for Appleby B in their comfortable win against Stainton. He top-scored with 33 retired in an Appleby total of 147-5 and then took 3-4 when the home side could manage only 65-9 in reply.

Joe Davison hit 30 retired for Appleby while Antony Hoosan made 23 not out for Stainton.

Keswick beat Egremont by six wickets after restricting the home side to 88-6. Jason Loan took 3-17 and Nathan Hurton had 1-7.

Loan (17) and Hurton (13no) joined Matthew Clark (31ret) in seeing Keswick to 89-4. Lewis Gribbin was the top scorer on the day, making 33 retired for Egremont.

The match between Whitehaven and Cockermouth Gold was conceded by the home team who were unable to field a team.

In the Under-11’s Appleby scored 282-3 against Nunwick with Joe Davidson (15no) and Richard Addison (14) doing best with the bat.
Nunwick scored 210-8  with Ben Green best on 11no. Josh Brabbins and Jack Hutt each took 2-0.

Carlisle Blue scored 326 against the 217 of Lanercost with Watson 21, Graham 19 and Farish 12 doing well with the bat.
