Carlisle Blue beat Carlisle Green by 35 runs in the Under-15’s League – and that represented a good performance.

It was in essence the club’s under 14's against the under 15's with Mike Slack prominent with bat and ball.

Slack held the batting together making 31 before Dom Wall (20) and Dan Tickner (15) pushed the score on in the final overs before the closed on 127. Matty Meeton took 3-22 for the Greens.

Keegan Hull top-scored with 33 in the Greens’ response of 92 when Ben Purdham (3-8) and Slack (3-14) did most damage with the ball.

In another club derby game a strong all round performance from the Cockermouth Gold team ensured they beat Cockermouth Green fairly comfortably. Cockermouth Green 75ao (S Paton 26) v Cockermouth Gold 76-1 (R Tinnion 24no, J Edmondson 27no).

Keswick 79-8 (M Clark 28no, A McGeen 3-17, N Graham 2-20) v Workington 80-3 (J Daniel 33ret, A Shilito 25no, B Sharpe 2-12).

Nunwick Gold  78-7 (Zak Sinkinson 33 ret) v Lanercost  75-9 (J Robley 31 ret, Sara Worsick 3-6 including a hat-trick).

This was a very close game with Nunwick setting what seemed to be a low target. The home side knew they would have to bowl well to have any chance of winning.

Lanercost seemed to be cruising to victory until Nunwick introduced Sara Worsick to the attack. She started with a maiden then in her second over she took a hat-trick to leave the Lanercost batting line up in tatters!

Her next over was also a maiden then she took the winning catch to round off an excellent performance - woman of  the match!

Whitehaven 87-7 (Cameron Connor 31 ret) v Cleator 200-3 (J Rogers 33, A Hodgson 33, S Jakobson 33 S Kiggins 33 R Leeson 30).

Workington Blue 75-7 (R Clubley 13, J Burgess 13no, Lancaster 2-14) v Egremont 78-3 (O Burn 30ret, A Mellen 32ret, J Burgess 2-12).

Workington finished around 15 runs too short of what would have been a competitive target as Egremont bowlers maintained a good line and length throughout.

Burn and Mellen set the foundations for Egremonts reply despite, again, good bowling from Workington. Egremont won with eight balls to spare, hence a total of around 90 would have set up a real nail-biter.

A close game with Appleby reaching their target with an over to spare. Mike Newton and Josh Brabbins starred in good all round team performance.

Workington 141-9 (Callum Sutton 30ret, Daniel Robson 30 ret, P Harrison 2-19 Joe Riley 2-19) v Cleator 125 all out (Luke Close 32 ret, Craig Sharpe 31 ret, Joe Riley 30 ret, Josh Cape 3-12).

This was an excellent game, between two evenly matched teams, played in beautiful conditions.  The excellent outfield at Workington contributed to a very high scoring encounter.  Joe Riley opened the bowling for Cleator with a hostile spell of bowling, which was matched by some good batting by Callum Sutton and Liam Hazzard.

Sutton and Daniel Robson then took the game to Workington both retiring on 30, before a clutter of wickets brought Cleator back into contention.

In response Riley opened with some excellent hitting, retiring on 30, which was backed up by some excellent batting from Luke Close and Craig Sharpe, who also both retired.

Some accurate bowling in the middle of the Cleator innings by Josh Cape (3-12) helped swing the advantage towards Workington. A superb catch from Oliver Wilson, to dismiss Newbiggin, finally broke Cleator's resistance
