Sandwith Roofing stole a march on their rivals in the Kirkland Carpets and Beds Midweek League Division One by trashing Isel by 92 runs.
The other two games - Egremont v Windscale Club, Seascale and Royal George v Braithwaite Colts were both victims of the weather.
Sandwith Roofing reached a very solid 146-5 led by former Workington wicket-keeper Phil Smart (54), ex-Valentine Ground all-rounder Neil Talbot (41) and current club star Kristian Moffat (30 rtd).
Evergreen Gerald Bowe took 3-22 for Isel but the village side was skittled for just 54 as team mentor Joe Sandwith (3-1), Brian Moore (2-9) and Talbot (2-12) were the main wicket-takers.
It was a bit tighter between BCMS and Cockermouth Colts with the cattlemen getting home in the end by nine runs.
The Colts went into the last over needing 20 to win and with a first ball six it looked distinctly possible but they were unable to maintain that final momentum.
In a score of 147-5BCMSD were well served by Callum Moffat (34 rtd), Mark Wilson (29), Simon Bragg (23) and Mike Yeoman (23no). For the Colts James Evans took 2-17.
The Colts finished on 138-4 with former Cockermouth North Lancs skipper Steve Chambers leading the way on 59 not out. Ryan Carruthers made 30 before retiring.
No doubt about what was the game of the week in Division Two – the low-scoring clash between Broughton and Seascale Juniors.
Broughton were bowled-out for 63 as Alan Kirkham (2-7), Mark Hartley (2-8) and Jack Graham (2-8) shone with the ball for Seascale.
But the Juniors batsmen – apart from Daniel Lee (23) - found it no easier and they were also dismissed for 63, so quite an exciting finish. Liam Bates (4-11), Gary Swanston (2-8) and Jason Alexander (2-8) shared-out the wickets between them.
The West Cumbria Law Society had a big win over Allonby after they had made 139-7. Paul States (54no) and Rob Allen (35) were the leading batsmen for the Lawyers with Ben Kyte (2-12) and Mike Holyoake (2-16) the pick of the hard-worked Allonby bowlers.
Allonby could only manage 50 in reply with Rob Allen taking 4-12 and States grabbing 3-0, James Allen took five catches.
The Division Two match between Distington and Baggrow 2 is yet to played as the Distington pitch is not ready yet.
