The rains relented sufficiently to allow five of the 16 scheduled matches in the Midweek League’s sevens competition to be held.
Only one game in each of the Forth Engineering Cup and the Kirkland Carpets Plate were held.
The Border Leisure League saw three results in four matches, one of which was the first concession of the competitions when a combination of an injury to the captain and an under 15’s match (which eventually wasn’t played) saw Baggrow Blues conceding their match to Baggrow and Blennerhasset.
In the Forth Engineering Cup Workington CC Dads made 61against Workington CC Lads.
Neil Irving (28ret) and Callum Moffat (20) were top scorers for the Dads with Dave Pearce (2-3) and Matt McClure (2-28) doing best with the ball for the Lads.
Johnny Irving (27ret) and Jake Daniel (24no) got the Lads through to 61-1 to win the game.
In the Kirkland Carpets Plate Baggrow and Blennerhasset made 113 which was good enough to beat Baggrow Blues by 42 runs.
Callum Ward (26 ret) and Gary Stewardson (24) led the B and B batting with Tom Smith taking 2-6 for the Blues. They could only manage 71 in reply with evergreen Peter Turner top-scoring on 25 retired.
The two team should have met in the Border Leisure League but Baggrow & Blennerhasset were given the verdict over Baggrow Blues by default
In that League Isel 2 made just 54 against Lanercost and went under. Rob Owen made just under half the runs with 26 retired while Martin Armstrong took 2-2.
Lanercost made 55-3 in reply, boosted by Sam Sykes (25 ret) to win by three wickets.
Isel 2 also went down to Baggrow and Blennerhasset by 27 runs after being set a total of 99-4.
They could only manage 72 but Owen was again in the runs with 26ret while Will Brough had 2-7 and Ward took 2-13.
On the Baggrow and Blennerhasset innings Brough (27ret), Ward (26ret) and Gary Stewardson (24) got the bulk of the runs.
The finals day is to be held at Town end, Caldbeck by kind permission of Caldbeck CC, but so far only two teams have booked their places.
In the Forth Engineering Cup, Valentine Group the ifs and buts are as follows.
If WCLS beat BCMS they will win the group, but if they lose they will not qualify.
If BCMS beat WCLS they will qualify if Sandwith Roofing fail to beat Workington CC Dads. if Sandwith Roofing also win the tie break rule will be activated and two of BCMS, Sandwith Roofing and Workington CC Lads will qualify.
Forth Engineering Cup, Derwent Group:
Cockermouth Colts have qualified.
Royal George will qualify if they beat Braithwaite Ospreys & the Ospreys v Colts match is unplayed.
Braithwaite Ospreys will qualify if they win their 2 remaining games. If the Ospreys beat Royal George & the Colts beat the Ospreys the tie break rule will be applied.
In the Kirkland Carpets Plate, Northern Group Baggrow and Blennerhasset have qualified

In the Kirkland Carpets Plate, Southern Group if Cleator beat Distington they will qualify. However if Distington beat Cleator they will qualify.
If Accies Old Sads beat Isel 2 they will qualify. If Isel 2 win both their remaining games they will qualify.
If Isel 2 beat Accies Old Sads and then lose to Isel 1 a tie break between the two teams (and possibly Cleator) will be activated.
In the Border Leisure League if Baggrow & Blennerhasset beat Accies Young Lads they will win the League.
If Accies Young Lads win both their matches they will either win the League or if Lanercost beat Carleton the trophy will be decided by the tie break rule.
Hope that clears things up, of course the weather could further complicate matters!
