seascale_win_vigodny_cup_.jpgSeascale won the Vigodny Cup for the first time with an 81-runs victory over Haverigg reserves at Millom.

Put into bat first, openers Jack Graham (26) and Dave Stubbings (15) got Seascale off to a steady start in tricky batting conditions.

Michael Fidler (47) and Adam Brown (54) then added some impetus to the innings before Steve Brown junior chipped in with an unbeaten 42. With 58 runs coming from the last five overs, Seascale finished on 226-5.

In reply Haverigg got off to a disastrous start losing a wicket off the first ball of the innings and from then on lost wickets steadily to eventually be bowled out for 145 in 35.5 overs.

Seascale's skipper Steve Brown senior opened the bowling and returned figures of 3-19 from his 9 overs. Steve Brown junior (2-37) and Pete Rooney (3-13) were also amongst the wickets whilst Mike Holmes top scored for Haverigg with 53.

Adam Brown took the Man of the Match award for his 54 in the Seascale innings.
