WHITEHAVEN need a victory this weekend to secure promotion back to the top flight of the North Lancashire League.
The Copeland outfit are sitting in second place in division one, following a victory over Appleby Eden on Saturday.
But Vickerstown are hot on their heels in third, just six points adrift and either side could snatch the final promotion spot, behind league champions Penrith.

Penrith were celebrating after clinching the double over the weekend, being crowned division one champions and lifting the Sowerby Cup.
And they did it in style – beating Cleator Seconds by a clear 10 wickets to bag maximum points and the title. Cleator were put into bat first and only David Mossop with 42 put any real resistance up against the Penrith bowling attack as the West Cumbrians slumped to 128 all out.
Kris McLean did most of the damage for Penrith, claiming four victims for the loss of just 41 runs.
In reply, Penrith openers Andrew Hall and Alex Atkinson brought them home, Hall unbeaten on 46 and Atkinson bagging his half century to finish on 59 not out.
Turning back to the premier division and the title race there is as close as can be with two points still separating Workington and Cockermouth at the top with one game to be played next weekend.
Workington stay on top, following a nine wicket win over Lindal Moor at Pennington Lane. Put into bat, Lindal offered little resistance and were all out for 108.
Workington’s bowling attack was on fine form, with the combination of Minor Counties pace star Matthew Gorley and off-spinner Simon James. James claimed six victims for the loss of 26 runs while Gorley picked up 4-36.
In reply opener Andrew Reed carried his bat for 46 with Callum Moffat adding 54 to get them to 109-1.

Cockermouth batted first on their home track and posted 206-6 with opening bat Greg Platten carrying his bat for 76, supported by Hugh Gimber and Ian Buchanan, both adding 32.
Then Mark Bowen ensured the points came to Cockermouth as he picked up an eight wicket haul for the loss of just 25 runs in 10 overs to dismiss Millom for just 86, only Stuart Swallow, with 31, putting up any resistance.
Cleator remain in third with a three wicket win over Duddon SC. Janaka Gunar-athna was Duddon’s top scorer with 59 as they took to the crease first and posted 131 for Cleator to chase. David Bell was the top wicket taker for Cleator with 3-9.
In reply, Cleator started well, openers Robert Mason hitting 28 and partner Paul Duffett making 35. Darren Clark then chipped in with 26 before they made it hard for themselves, losing mid-order wickets cheaply. But they had done just enough to clinch the win on 133-7.
