Workington won their rearranged County Cup match at Millom last night with a 12 run win in a 20 over game.

The previous match had been abandoned with Workington on a precarious 40-6 and they took full advantage of their second chance.

Winning the toss stand-in skipper Martyn Turner batted first and thanks to a great team effort scored 162-7 – Matt Gorley 35, Jake Daniel 27, and Callum Moffat 24 the main scorers. Andy Kelly took 3-39from his four overs.

Despite pro Majid Jahangir scoring 77 from 56 balls Millom could only make 150-6, Dan McDermott taking 2-42 including the vital wicket of Majid, well caught in the deep by Daniel.

The win has earned Workington a trip to Carlisle in the next round, on a date to be arranged.
