Barrow and Southport  will take heart from home victories when they tackle the second-legs of the Blue Square North promotion play-off semi-finals on Sunday.

Against AFC Telford at Holker Street, the Bluebirds scored twice in the last 18 minutes to earn a 2-0 victory. As it is they still have it all to do at the New Bucks Head on Sunday

Recent signing Paul Tait grabbed the opener on 72 minutes and Nick Rogan scored the second eight minutes from time. Crucially in the last minute of the game Rogan had an effort come back off the post – or AFC Telford could have been buried for the second leg.

Liam Blakeman's only goal of the game in the 36th minute earned Southport the narrowest of victories over Stalybridge Celtic.

Celtic enjoyed plenty of possession and pressure but couldn’t find a way through a strong home defence.
