Hucknall Town, looking for a new manager following their relegation to the Unibond Premier League have been snubbed by Carlton Town’s head coach Tommy Brookbanks.
Scotsman David Lloyd, who was only appointed for the second-half of the season, was unable to save Hucknall from the drop and paid the price with the axe.
The club invited UniBond League Division One South side Carlton Town`s head coach Tommy Brookbanks for an interview with a view to him taking over the managers` post at Watnall Road .
But after a meeting with his own club chairman Mick Garton, Brookbanks has committed his future to Carlton and will lead the team into their second season in the UniBond League.
Brookbanks told Non-League Today: “I was honoured and flattered to be offered the opportunity of an interview for a post at Hucknall, but after talks with chairman Mick Garton I decided to stay and finish the job at Carlton.
“I honestly believe we can surpass Hucknall. I work alongside an excellent chairman and I’m still driven and motivated by the challenges at Carlton Town.
“I have an excellent bunch of players, a cracking youth set up and I plan to engage further with the junior set up during the summer and throughout next season and I have further ideas how we can help and develop that relationship and support each other going forward.
“I am fully committed to mounting a promotion push next season and taking this club into the UniBond Premier Division.”
Lloyd briefly lifted Hucknall out of the drop zone when he was appointed but they slipped back into trouble and were eventually unable to recover.
