 MARK Danks could be on his way out of Worcester City at the end of the season.
The striker, who sat out Tueday's 1-0 defeat at Workington in order to rest his knee, has asked to have his name circulated around other clubs.
Manager Richard Dryden is keen to retain Danks' services for the 2008/09 campaign, likely to be in the Blue Square South, but admits it could be difficult to stop him leaving.
Dryden said: "He's asked for his name to be circulated so I'll have to sit down with him some time this week, whether it be face-to-face or over the phone, and see what his true intentions are.
"When Mark is fit he's a quality player and you'd look to keep him. Hopefully he wants to stay but if he wants his name circulated we have got to ask whether he wants to stay or is he desperate to get away.
"He's a quality player and I'll offer him a deal if it's right and I've got the money to do it. We're missing a goal-scorer at the moment. We're not scoring enough goals and he is a goal-scorer.
"If he proves he's fully fit, he's very, very likely to get offered a contract. But if he's looking to get his name circulated, it might be very, very hard to keep him."
City remain 12th in Blue Square North after their defeat at Borough Park, courtesy of Dan Kirkup's 55th-minute header from a corner.
Dryden was frustrated by elements of his team's performance in Cumbria but thought a point would have been a fair reflection of the match.
He said: "I was disappointed. Again, due to conditions with the surface, it wasn't going to be a classic and I thought we more than deserved to get something out of the game.
"We sat and had a little inquest for about half-an-hour after the game. Sometimes you need to earn the right to go and play football.
"Whether it takes 20, 45 or 75 minutes, sometimes you have just got to put balls in the right areas and put a lot of pressure on them.
"We started really well but I think we faded away until they scored and after they scored we stepped up again.
"That is a little bit disappointing because we had to go a goal down for the majority of people to come out of their comfort zone to have a go and that's what I have got to assess for next season."
Keeper Chris Sanna produced another good display in his bid to earn a permanent deal with Worcester for next season, showing acrobatics to tip Jonny Wright's first-half volley against the bar.
"It was a great save from Chris," Dryden said. "He's a decent keeper."
He will probably have to earn his money on Saturday when City return to Cumbria to take on Barrow at Holker Street. If the Blue birds win they will make the play-offs, whether or not Harrogate beat Workington in their final game.
