Fleetwood Town have continued to strengthen their squad as they aim to put a squad together that is capable of challenging at the top of the Blue Square North this coming season.
Steve McNulty has joined for a club record fee of £17,000 from Blue Square Premier side Barrow after two successful years at Holker Street. After play-off success in his first season and survival in his second.
He played a total of 4,061 minutes for Barrow last Season scoring 5 goals.
Its understood that Barrow were keen on keeping the 25 year old strong centre half and had offered him a new deal which would see him training three days a week with the club as they look to go Full-Time, but he rejected the offer over wages claiming it was not worth giving up his full-time job as a truck driver.
With one-year remaining on his current deal Barrow decided to cash in and had numerous offers from other Blue Square North clubs but its Fleetwood that have won the race for his signiture.
McNulty a former trainee at Liverpool and captain of the academy side before being released in 2003 and joined Burscough in the Unibond Premier Division after 16 months at Victoria Park he moved onto Vauxhall Motors quickly establishing himself as a key player and was soon given the captain's armband before moving to Barrow in 2007 were he was awarded Blue Square North Player of the Season in his first season with the club.
He joins Jamie McGuire, Jamie Mullan, Ashley Wolliscroft and Lee Dodgson as new recuits at Highbury next season.
