Lee Carter (Telford Chariman)AFC Telford United chairman Lee Carter(pictured) insists his side is still in the hunt for promotion, despite facing a two goal deficit against Barrow.

They go into Sunday’s second leg of the Blue Square Conference North play-off semi-final looking for a big home crowd to will them back into the contest.

Carter says: “We are still alive and in the hunt, no doubt about it. Only a fool would well and truly right us off.

“We are an all or nothing club. Win or bust on the field is our speciality. We love nothing better than when people write us off and, to be honest, I take the pitch invasion by their fans last night and the prolonged celebration by Barrows players as them writing us off.

“If they turn up on Sunday in front of nearly 5,000 home fans and if they manage to duck the kitchen sink we are going to throw at them then, all credit, they deserve everything they will enjoy from that.

“My whole Telford supporting life has been filled with stories about the famous comebacks against Harrow Borough and Stafford and we need every ounce of that spirit and more on Sunday.”

The club is expecting a crowd of over 5,000 for this all important match. It will the biggest safety operation ever undertaken by the club, nearly 80 stewards will be on duty.

The club do expect the capacity of the stadium to be reached even though Barrow have now sold their further allocation of 100 tickets, taking them to 800. There are no further tickets available for the game.

Having already completed a league double over runners-up Telford by 4-0 at home and 2-0 away, Barrow added Wednesday’s win to their tally – and still have to concede a goal to them.

The prize at stake for both teams is a place in the Blue Square North play-off final at Burton Albion next Friday night against the winners of the other semi-final between Stalybridge and Southport.

Joint manager Dave Bayliss said: “We are not going to be over-confident because we will be going there with the attitude that it’s 0-0.

“The first goal of the game is massive. If we can score it then they have a mountain to climb, but of they get it there is definitely a game on.”

A decision still has to be made by Bayliss and his co-manager Darren Sheridan as to whether goal-scoring midfielder Matt Henney is risked.

The former Workington star missed the first leg with a troublesome hamstring after playing in every league game.
