Frostoms1.In an ill-tempered clash at Moss Bay Frostoms and the Bluebell somehow both managed to finish the West Cumbria Over-35’s League clash game with 11 players each.

They sailed close to the wind - Frostoms for their second half questioning of refereeing decisions and the Bluebell for their very physical attitude to the game.

With a strong wind behind them the Bluebell pressured the Frostoms goal without testing the Frostoms keeper Gary Byers.

It was against the run of play when Frostoms (featured alongside) took the lead as Wane Murray robbed Bluebell keeper Mark Bell and scored from a tight angle.

The Bluebell pressure eventually paid off when Frostoms failed to clear a corner fully and Martin Wallace fired home from the edge of the penalty area.

Frostoms defended doggedly until half time, restricting the Bluebell to only an Ian Armstrong shot on target which keeper Byers turned round the post.

In the second half Frostoms did not exert too much pressure on the Bluebell, only getting a shot on target in the last couple of minutes when Kris Klimek shot straight at keeper Bell.

Also in Division Two the Globe Hotel went top with a 5-0 win over bottom club Hall Park Hotel. Tony Allaker (2), Rab Bower (2) and new signing Simon Parry were the home team’s scorers.

Silloth travelled to the Sheepmount with only nine players but Howard’s Rangers generously loaned them two men. They might have regretted this generosity after the game as Silloth won 4-2 and one of the loan players Barry "The Cat" Stewart was the man of the match in the Silloth goal.

Paul Brechin and Eifion Owen scored for the Carlisle side, while a Ken Derbyshire hat-=trick and a goal by John Stabler wrapped-up the win for Silloth.

In Division One Grasslot went joint top with a 4-2 victory over Carlisle Zimmer's. Mike Dempsey, Phil Graham, Gary Murdock and James Routledge all scored one goal for the home team with Brian Black and Dave Devlin replying for the Zimmers.

Netherhall crashed to their first defeat of the season when a strong Carlisle City team made amends for their recent heavy defeat by Frizington.

Former Workington Reds striker Ian Milburn grabbed a hat-trick and David Jenkins was also on target. They also had the help of a Netherhall own goal.

Vinnie Jackson scored in the right net for Netherhall and despite the scoreline the home team gave their Carlisle visitors a hard time. City, however, hit Netherhall on the break three times to score and give them a slightly flattering winning scoreline.

In the other game in the top flight Penrith, newly promoted this season, recorded their first victory of the season when they edged out their visitors from Carlisle St Bedes in a seven goal thriller.

Dave Ryding (2), Mark Brookes and Alan Parkin scored for Penrith while Paul Dobie, Gary Milne and Alan Rook scored a goal each for St Bede’s.
