In Division One of the West Cumbria Over-35’s League Carlisle City moved further away from the rest of the teams.
They stretched their lead with a close 2-1 victory over Frizington as Mike Graham and David Jenkins scored the goals.
Adam Jackson kept Frizington in the game with a well taken goal.
Penrith played host to Netherhall at Southend Road and had a huge squad to pick from on a red hot summer’s night – with the two sides all square 1-1 at the end.
The first quarter was pretty even with Netherhall having a couple of chances and they took the lead after 20 minutes when Gary Morrison scored from the edge of the box with a shot into the bottom corner,
With Penrith using their substitutes on a regular basis John Kendall came on and had three good chances, going closest with a header.
Alan Parkin headed over late in the first half as the home side searched for an equalizer, however Netherhall defended superbly and went into half time with the lead.
After creating several early chances in the second half Penrith’s pressure paid off when Dave Ryding scored, heading in a cross from Parkin.
Penrith probably had the bulk of play in the second half but Netherhall defended very well and created a few chances themselves.
Dave Ryding, Graeme Appleton and Lenny Brown all had chances to score but spurned them late on for Penrith.
Although Penrith dominated the possession Netherhall were more than a match for them and deservedly became the first team to come away from Southend Road with a point.
The Zimmer's kept in touch with league leaders Carlisle City after a deserved 5-3 win at Whitehaven.
Dave Devlin (3), Robert Copeland and Jon Pagin scored for the visitors. Eddie Holiday, David Stamp and Mark Whalley, with his sixth goal of the season, kept the home team in the game.
In Division Two Moresby closed the gap on Silloth and the Globe with a 3-0 victory over the Bush.
If Bush keeper Steve Rothwell had not been in excellent form Moresby could have at least doubled the goal tally. As it was Gary May and David Ward (2) managed to score past the inspired last line of defence.
Frostoms suffered their second defeat in succession when they went down 4-1 in the Workington derby with Bluebell.
Frostoms led 1-0 at half time with a well taken Wayne Murray goal. In the second half Martin Wallace (2) and Ken Kirkwood (2) ensured all three points went the way of the Bluebell.
Bottom club Hall Park Hotel came within a whisker of recording their second point of the season against the Howard's Rangers, but went down 4-3.
Gary Dodgson, Andy Yoxall and George Atkinson scored for the Hall Park. Stuart Nixon, Kevin Hewitson, Andy Small and John Pears netted for the Carlisle team.
