Have you ever wondered how much those old football programmes are worth or that signed cricket bat that has been in the loft for years?

Well now’s your chance to find out. Birmingham based Sporting Memorys, a company specialising in Sports Memorabilia will be in the area for a series of their ongoing valuation road-shows from May 12 to 15.

It won’t be just football or cricket but anything sports related, from both codes of rugby to racing and boxing to bobsleigh. Any items brought along will see the team of experts cast their specialist eye over them.

The road-show starts at Carlisle United’s Brunton Park on Monday; visits Workington’s Borough Park on Tuesday and will be down Barrow football club on Wednesday.

Availability at each venue will be from 2pm until 8pm and all other times by arrangement.

Visiting the area during the week will be Robert Adcock, the founder of the Company who has been involved with memorabilia spanning four decades and has gained extensive knowledge throughout this vast spectrum of collecting.

“It is a branch of collecting that is always changing and over the years I have seen many different trends come and go. It sill amazes me what it valuable, you may think for example that your dads old cigarette cards that you should really have thrown out years ago may just contain the one that is highly collectible,” said Robert.

Also there will be William Andrews, who has a great passion for the history of most sports with particular interest in football with in depth knowledge of the FA Cup and World Cup competitions as well as famous players from the past.

“It is really because you never know what or who is going to come through the door next. We have had situations where a family member has brought in some of their fathers or grandfathers medals blissfully unaware that he played for a well known League team and it great to be able to give them this information they were missing”
