Mick GallowayFORMER Carlisle United and Workington midfielder Mick Galloway has been appointed joint manager of Hucknall Town.

Galloway, 33, played at Hucknall for the last ten weeks of the season after leaving the Reds, but was unable to save them from relegation.

David Lloyd, who had only taken over midway thropugh the season was sacked and Galloway will form a new managerial partnership with former Eastwood Town coach Andy Miller.

The Hucknall directors were impressed by Galloway at his interview while Miller has had experience coaching at the Unibond level where Town now find themselves.

Galloway began his playing career at Notts Councy in 1993 where he made 23 appearances in four years.

He then moved on to Gillingham and enjoyed the most successful spell of his career, making 93 appearances, including in the 1999 League One play-off final against Manchester City at Wembley.

He was later sold to Chesterfield and has since had spells at Carlisle and in Scotland with Gretna and Cowdenbeath. He coached at Penrith United in between two spells with Workington.

Galloway made four starts, plus eight substiutute appearances after joining Hucknall in February while Miller made his name at Calverton Miners Welfare, whom he guided to third place in the Notts Senior League, one place behind Linby Colliery Welfare, in the 2004/05 season.

He left early the following season and later joined Eastwood as coach to boss Cox, another ex-Notts County player. However he was only in this position for a year.

The appointments have been made by Town's vice-chairman Dave Gamble and former chairman John Coleman, who is a vice-president of the club, although their first choice Carlton Town chief Tommy Brookbanks, turned them down.

A club sp0kesman said: "They will have equal standing and will work closely together to put a side together for next season."
