Bluebell.jpgROGER Denwood grabbed his first goal for over ten years in the West Cumbria Over-35’s League to help Netherhall to victory.

The 2-1 win at St. Bede’s put them top of the table after Denwood and Tony Stones had put the Maryport side two goals clear.

Alan Rook gave the home side a glimmer of hope with a goal ten minutes from time but they couldn’t complete the fight-back.

In the only other top flight game Frizington crashed to a 6-1 thrashing at Carlisle Zimmers.

Adrian Banks opened the scoring for the West Cumbrians but it was one-way traffic after that.

The Zimmers came back to win well with goals from Paul Telford (2), Robert Copeland, Wayne Newton, Dave Devlin and Rob Johnston.
In Division Two Moresby were 4-1 winners at Hall Park Hotel and that put them top of the pile.

Paul Curtis (2), Andy Lithgow and Maurice Stevenson were the Moresby scorers while David Glasson pulled back a goal in the second half for the home team.

The Globe Hotel lost their unbeaten record when they lost 2-1 at Moss Bay against the Bluebell (pictured above).

The game started slowly for Bluebell as Globe dominated possession in the first half but only managed to create the odd half chance due to some dogged defending.

The first ten minutes of the second half saw the Bluebell come to life with some neat football which saw Ian Armstrong thunder in a 25 yard drive giving the Globe keeper Bob van den Bossche no chance.

The Globe then went all out for an equaliser but some excellent passing on the break between Steve Earle, David Spokes and Ian Armstrong saw Martin Wallace strike an excellent goal. Hall_Park

The Globe continued to press and on 85 minutes they got a consolation goal from Simon Rickerby despite Bluebell keeper Mark Bell making an excellent save at first.

Outstanding performance by Bluebell in general but special praise going to Carl Nicholson, Roger Gambles, Neil White, Paul McDonald and Richard Tubman all at the heart of their defence.

Also a special mention to Tony Cresswell for an outstanding refereeing performance.

The Bush were on the receiving end of a six goal pasting against Howard’s Rangers after they had put six past the Hall Park Hotel (pictured alongside) in their previous match.

Mally O'Hare and Barry Parker were on target for the home side but the Howard's finally got their season going with goals from Kevin Hewitson (2), Chris Hewitt, Mark Herd, Les Howard and Simon McCubbing.

Silloth scored a late winner in the 93rd minute to take all three points in a close home game against Frostomes.

It was a game dominated by the strong wind as Silloth peppered the visitors’ goal but Frostoms keeper Gary Byers stood firm.
He was beaten however after 20 minutes when Paul Shankland’s shot went in at the far post.

On the second half Frostoms did not use the wind to their advantage and never really tested the Silloth keeper Phil Scott. The Workington side did equalise with ten minutes remaining when Mike Cameron nodded in from a Mike Byers corner.

Andrew Harrison had the last word, however, when he fired in the winning goal deep into injury time.
