sunday_tables_august_29.jpgNORTHSIDE and Workington Red House both opened their Workington Sunday League Premier Division programmes with big victories.

The pair had not played in the first two weeks of the season but were clearly champion at the when they started at the week-end.

Northside thumped Bluebell 10-3 while Workington Red House were 5-1 winners at Borough.

Two of Northside’s regular marksmen – Michael Pickering and Kyle Galea – each hit a hat-trick while the other goals came from Andrew Wilson (2), Jamie Williamson and Andrew Calarco.

Dave Byers was the game’s third hat-trick hero, making sure Bluebell at least had something to talk about.

Greg Quayle topped the hat-trick men as he hit four for Workington Red House at Borough. Gary Hewitt scored the fifth while Brian Straughton registered for the losers.

The three games in the First Division were much closer affairs – tight all the way with Dearham and Deer Orchard actually finishing all square at 2-2.

Shaun Smith and Gavin Manchester were on the mark for Dearham – their first goals in three matches – while Keith Skillen and Dan Burns netted for the Orchard.

Hall Park Hotel – formerly Portland – were given a stern test by Maryport before they claimed the points in a 2-1 victory.

Wayne Graham – who has netted a goal in all three Maryport games so far – scored for the home side with Kevin Connelly and Craig Routledge winning it for Hall Park.

Just as tight in the third game where Grasslot squeezed home 3-2 at FC Red House.

Ryan Porter netted a brace for Grasslot and regular scorer Martin Sewell was also on the mark with Dane Pape and Mally O’Hare netting for the Workington side.

It was a real Scrutiny on the Bounty when the two pub sides from Workington and Maryport respectively came up against each other. In a tight affair a lone goal from Michael Ditchburn gave Maryport Bounty the 1-0 win.

There was also just one goal in it when the Waverley hosted new boys Re-Session and went down 3-4.

Ken Sandelands, the top goalscorer in the League so far, took his three match tally to nine with a brace for Re-Session while Jonathan White and Martin Conroy also netted.

Barry Miller, Scott Findley and Craig Straughton were the Waverley goal-scorers.

No doubt about the result of the third game in the Division as Real Red House beat Broughton 9-0.

Gareth O’Leary, Jon Wedgewood and Gareth Key each scored twice while Dean Scholey, John-Karl Benson and Paul Lowery also netted.
