REIGNING champions Red Lion are the Workington and District Sunday League representatives in the semi-finals of the Sunday County Cup.
The Aspatria side scored an excellent 4-2 win at Wigton Stocksman in a quarter-final tie which went to extra time.
The Workington League’s second representatives, new First Division champions Borough, were beaten 3-0 in their tie at Thornhill.
The Egremont League will therefore have two representatives through as Cleator Moor hammered the Royal Scot 7-1.
The fourth quarter final tie was really lose and eventually saw Portland (Carlisle) edge through 1-0 against Brampton.
On the domestic scene, in the first round of the Divisional Cup Seaton were unable to raise a team for their home clash with Portland – ironically who hadn’t been able to raise a side for their last game.
In the second round Portland will be at home to Borough. The winners will visit Crosby in the semi-final.
The other semi-final will see Flimby host Last Orders.
In their respective second round games Flimby and Last Orders had differing routes to the semi-final.
Flimby had to work really hard to beat Grasslot 2-1 with goals from Wayne Graham and Darren Wilson. Martin Sewell netted for Grasslot.
By contrast Last Orders cruised through 11-1 at Waverley with Greg Quayle leading he way on four. Scott Pears grabbed a brace and the rest came from Dan Swinburne, David Gaunt, Colin McAllister, Ross McDonald and Stuart Bell.
Darren Studholme scored the Waverley consolation goal.
Crosby were also comfortable in their 6-2 second round win over FC Red House.
Tony Harrison helped himself to a hat-trick of goals and was joined on the score-sheet by Liam Hanley, Scott Wood and Phil Dixon. Gary Pala scored both goals for FC Red House.
Three games went ahead in the Premier League where Northside moved back to the top after earning a 4-1 win at Deer Orchard in a game played at Dearham.
Mike O’Leary and Kyle Galea scored a brace apiece for Orchard with Lenny Weaver netting for the Cockermouth side.
Bluebell lost the League leadership when they went down 3-1 at Red House Athletic. Rob McDonald was their goal-scorer but Athletic pocketed the points through Gavin Martin (2) and Simon Renkin.
William Hill’s Josh Gartland scored a hat-trick which set-up the Maryport side’s 3-0 win at Senhouse.
In our featured game in Division Two Miners easily beat bottom side Glasson 9-0 at Hall Park.
There were two goals each for Michael Broatch, Mark Donaughee, Andrew Marshalsea and Wayne Smith while Tony Martin completed the scoring.
It was much tighter in the other game with Barca32 winning 4-2 at Broughton. Gary Blackwell was another hat-trick hero with Ryan Parker also scoring for the Workington side.
James Bryden and Steven Relph scored the Broughton goals.
The pictures were taken by GEORGE REID at the Second Division game between Miners and Glasson.
