THERE was added celebrations for William Hill as they completed a Workington Sunday League double in just over 48 hours.
After beating Bluebell 3-0 to win the League Cup they watched Northside fail to pip them for the Premier Division title.
Red Lion lost 5-2 but those two goals were enough to hand the crown to William Hill on goal difference. A clean sheet by Northside would have won them the title.
Mark Hine (2) and Will Heaney scored the goals which gave William Hill victory over Bluebell at Grasslot.
Then Mark Irwin and Kevin Farish earned the gratitude of the William Hill squad as they netted in the defeat against Northside.
Mike O’Leary (2), Kyle Galea (2) and Michael Pickering scored for Northside but to no avail as they had to settle for runners-up spot.
Northside had the best attack in the Division (46 goals) but William Hill had the strongest defence (19 conceded).
The final game in Division Two saw the champions Portland beat FC Red House 4-1 when two goals from the League’s leading scorer Kevin Connelly took his total for the season to 31.
David Dustin and Steven Graham were also on target with Brendan Wilkinson replied for FC Red House.
