Aspatria and Mirehouse fought for 120 minutes in the ISS Waterers Peter Dawson Benevolent Cup but it ended all square.

Extra time could not produce a winner as it ended 3 - 3 and the game was settled by penalties – 5-4 in Aspatria’s favour.

Richard Hudson scored all three for Aspatria but Callum Kinnick (2) and Ryan Smith squared matters for Mirehouse.

It set-up a local derby in the quarter finals tomorrow when Aspatria will make the short trip to Wigton Harriers.

Another delayed Cup match saw Cleator Moor Celtic progress into the quarter finals of the J J Club Whitehaven Cup where they will host Longtown.

They beat South Workington 6-1 with goals from Zac Rudd (3), Lee Dunn (2) and Carl Dixon with Gary Hunter scoring the Allerdale siode’s consolation./

The West Cumberland Scaffolding Divisional Cup tie between Parton United Reserves and Carlisle City was postponed for the fourth time which caused concerns.

City had a 10-1 lead from the first leg and after talks between the league and Parton, it has been decided the second leg will be forfeited and the quarter finals can be played on March 20.

Fixtures secrtary Herbert Briggs said: “Clubs should remember that these games will be a straight knock. Due to the back log of fixtures the two legged format has been scrapped.

“I’d like to add a word of thanks to all at Parton United Reserves. We didn't want this to happen but because of problemsd with the weather we are really struggling to get cup games in.

“We have to play them by certain dates so we can play the finals on neutral venues. The league is not a problem as we can play to the end of May but we don't want to.”

In the Tesco Premier League Frizington White Star slipped to a home defeat, going down 2-1 to Wigton Harriers. Mathew Thompson and Johnny Studholme scored for the Hariers.

League leaders Longtown took the points at Whitehaven AFC with a solitary Ross Martin strike and that opened a eight point gap at the top of the table.

Champions Netherhall are the main contenders as they are nine points behind but they have four games in hand so this one could go all the way to the wire.

Cockermouth opened up a five point gap with victory over Bransty, the team just below them in the table.

Martin Thompson netted a brace with Nat Mitchell, James Carruthers and Emyr Hafren scored for the winners.

Tesco Division One action saw Hearts of Liddesdale pick up their first three points of the season with a big 7-2 win over Silloth.

Hearts won with goals from Daniel Brough (2), Andrew Ling (2) Will Liddell, Dean Thompson and Scott Adamson which moved them up two places in the table. Silloth's goals came from Damien Horsley and Brian Hayhurst.

Wigton Athletic beat Windscale 5-1 with goals from Lee Coulthard (3), David Wilson and Micheal Clarke. Zac Starkey netted the Windscale consolation.

FC32 moved to the top of the table as the inflicted a 6 - 3 reversal on Parton United. Daniel McAdam scored two with Tom Pardini, David Skelton, Ben Gregory and Mark Messenger netting the others. Ryan Nicholson (2) and David Hodgson responded for Parton.
