THE Tesco Cumberland County League have cancelled all fixtures scheduled for tonight.

It was feared the lack of light towards the end would cause problems, so a halt was called to every fixture planned adding more problems to an already congested season.

On Saturday Longtown broke a club record with their 4-3 victory at Cleator Moor Celtic in the Whitehaven Cup which was their tenth successive League and Cup victory,

Holders Netherhall were made to work hard as Mirehouse pushed them all the way in their quarter final tie before the Maryport side won 3-2.

Cockermouth were also made to work but Whitehaven failed to put away their chances and after it finished 1-1 the visitors won the penalty shoot-out 4-1.

The fourth quarter-final between Aspatria and Wigton Harriers was postponed after a collapsed drain caused problems.

The two teams will try again this weekend and if the Aspatria pitch is unplayable the game will be switched to Wigton. With more rain forecast League officials are expecting it to be moved.
