Kendal Town missed-out on a place in the Lancashire Co-op Cup final when they lost 2-1 to Radcliffe Borough in the semi-final at Parkside last night.
Radcliffe led 1-0 at half-time after a shot from Mark Drew was deflected into the Kendal net and they doubled their advantage with a Griff Jones penalty.
Kendal player-manager Lee Ashcroft set-up Danny Wisdom with a neat pull-back for him to reduce the arrears and late on George Melling almost took the tie to extra-time when he saw a shot superbly clawed away by the Radcliffe keeper Phil Priestley.
Radcliffe were reaching their first Lancashire FA Trophy final where they will play fellow league rivals Skelmersdale United who beat Burscough 2-0.
The game is due to take place at the Lancashire FA headquarters in Leyland with a date to be confirmed soon.
As for Kendal they have lost three games – all 2-1 – in a six day period but have to get themselves pulled together for Saturday’s trip to Witton Albion, a side battling to move away from the relegation zone.
