Aaron Taylor is a striker who was released by the Christie Park club at the end of last season. He had actually started the season on loan with Barrow in the Blue Square Premier.

Reds already have Aaron Taylor waiting in the wings to take over the goalkeeping duties from Tony Caig if his move to Carlisle United goes through.

Striker Taylor, 20, will get his first chance to impress at Gretna tomorrow night when Reds play their first pre-season friendly.

Morecambe-born Taylor was signed from the club’s academy and made his debut as a sub in Morecambe's 2-2 draw with Chesterfield. He made his full debut against Rochdale on 18 October 2008 and marked his first appearance with a goal Since then, he went on to play 20 times for Sammy McIlroy’s side scoring two League goals.

He had always scored regularly playing for Morecambe youth and reserves teams while his father is a former Shrimps player.

An England Colleges international he also started the first round FA Cup game against Grimsby, scoring twice and being named man of the match.

He joined Barrow on a five-week loan at the start of the 2009/10 season before returning to Morecambe.

Andy Langford and Phil McLuckie, current first-teamers at Brough Park, are ex-team-mates at Morecambe.

Matt Tymon,, a 20-year-old striker released by Hartlepool United, has also been looking useful in early training sessions and he will get an opportunity to show what he’s capable of at Gretna.
