galloway3FORMER Workington and Carlisle United midfielder Mick Galloway is back in management – as assistant boss at Worksop Town.

Peter Rinkcavage, manager of UniBond League Premier Division club Worksop  has appointed Galloway, 34, as his new player/assistant-manager.

Craig Weston will remain as first-team coach with Andy Lake continuing as goalkeeper coach.

Former assistant-manager Jason Maybury will be a coach without portfolio, fulfilling a coaching and scouting role.

The Tigers` boss said: "I am delighted Mick has accepted the role of assistant-manager. He has a wealth of experience, both at playing and coaching, and I believe he will be a great asset to me and the club. We will retain his playing registration but his main concern will be in assisting me in the running of the first-team".

He was appointed caretaker manager for Hucknall Town’s final game of the 2007-08 season, before being appointed as the club's permanent manager along with Andy Miller but in October 2008, they were dismissed.

He then quickly joined Worksop Town as a player and scored a dramatic free-kick on his debut.
Galloway played for a string of clubs – Gillingham (75) and Carlisle (35) being the most in the Football League and in two short spells with Workington played 19 games.
