fa_youth_cup.jpgWorkington Reds have again been accepted into three of the FA’s cup competitions and will compete in the FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Youth Cup (pictured left).

A total of 460 clubs have entered the Youth Cup and Reds will begin their interest in a preliminary round tie at Ryton.  The clubs met in the competition six years ago at Kingsley Park ground where Reds suffered a 4-1 defeat.

That tie is to be played week commencing 6th September and, should the west Cumbrians win, a home tie against Ashington awaits in the next round.

Workington’s FA Cup campaign will get underway at the second qualifying round stage on the last Saturday in September.

No fewer than 759 clubs were accepted into the competition and one of the newcomers is Whitehaven Amateurs.  The Northern League Second Division outfit will be playing in the competition for the first time and host Team Northumbria. If results go their way, there is the potential for a home tie versus Penrith.

Reds will enter the Trophy on 20th November at the third qualifying round stage and will be hoping to repeat last season’s achievements.  The Trophy entry this season includes 266 clubs.
