GaryLockern=bieCUMBRIA’S Gary Lockerbie is eight shots off the lead ahead of the finalround of the European Tour BMW Italian Open in Turin.

Lockerbie shot a third round 72 for a share of 31st place with just one round to play – three under par 210.

That was a disappointment for the Penrith golfer as he had out together successive rounds of 69 to comfortably make the cut.

Argentina's Daniel Vancsik has compiled rounds of 68, 65 and 69 to lead by one shot from former Challenge Tour event winner Roope Kakko (71, 64 & 68) of Finland, who is on -203.

Next best placed is South Africa'sThomas Aiken (68, 70 and 66) and Ulsterman Gareth Maybin (64, 70 and 70) a shot further back.

Former European Tour event winners Raphaël Jacquelin (67, 70 and 68) of France and Thomas Bjorn (71, 67 and 68) of Denmark and are within striking distance at -8 and -7, respectively.

Scottish duo Alan McLean (71, 69 and 67) and Richie Ramsay (67, 70 are 70) are lying tied 11th at six under par, 207.
