A trail hound which went missing at Helton almost found its way to Wales!

Not that Busy Future was going to walk it, but the missing hound had been picked-up by a Welsh holiday-maker.

Alan Blacklock's pup was missing for over a week before it was located in a camper van near Drigg.

It was spotted by Jeff Higgins when he was walking his dogs on the beach and was lying asleep in the front seat.

Alan said: “Apparently the man was on holiday from Wales and was at Haweswater when he saw a few pups running about. He picked-up Busy Future and had kept him for over a week until Jeff spotted him.

“He was going to take him back to Wales with him but fortunately Jeff and a few of the lads from west Cumbria went back with an annual, explained about the sport and showed the registration number in the ear to prove the hound’s identity.

“He passed it over and the lads brought it back to me at Oulton on Tuesday. The hound looks fine and perfectly well. Maybe the change of scenery has done it good.”

Maybe the Welsh will fancy starting hound trailing of their own if our holiday-maker friend can pass on a few details!
