AROUND THE TRAILS

 It got very crowded at Grasmere Sports on Sunday by the time the seniors ran, but was nice and calm for the three shorter trails.
Huntsman’s Dazzler won by 40 yards, with Westgate Lark just beating Courtesy to take second place in the pups.
There was more success for the Bland and Barrow partners when Huntsman’s Ruler narrowly beat Huntsman’s Charm in a thrilling finish to the open restricted.
Bretton won the veteran trail easily for the third year in succession, following open restricted wins in 2003 and 2004 (and she was 4th in 2005).
Westgate Ruby led the veteran Melody through the top of the fell and down the finish and never looked like being caught, winning by 20 yards. These were well clear of Gigolo and Boreas, who were in turn a long way ahead of Sovereign and Ms Dynamite.
