Taking the technical jargon out of science will be the aim at a ground-breaking gathering to look at the problems affecting water quality in Bassenthwaite Lake.
A ‘simple science’ conference in Keswick on Saturday, February 23 will be a straight-talking event to help people of all ages understand the Lake’s needs.
“Bringing science to a level people can understand is the only way forward if we want them to help us,” says event organiser John Pinder of the Restoration Programme.
For years scientists and environmental experts have grappled with the complexities of dealing with Bassenthwaite Lake’s failing water quality. And as momentum grows in actions to combat the problems, the time has come to explain – in easy speak.
Keynote speakers are being given just 10 minutes each to set out their stall and explain what they are doing to come to the rescue of the Lake District’s fourth largest stretch of water. Jargon and jaded descriptions are banned.
John explained: “We want everyone from children to pensioners to know what we’re up to.”
