Campaign To Reduce Dog Fouling PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 07 January 2008

As part of a campaign to reduce dog fouling in the town bio degradable bags for disposing of waste are to be distributed for free in the streets of Kendal.

Town councillors have agreed that a more active approach to the problem needs to be taken.

Fixed penalty charges of £75 to members of the public who failed to clean up are in operation but so far no one had been caught in the town.

John Barwise, a environment enforcement officer from South Lakeland District Council said the Council had been developing its own promotional material and planned to distribute it at local schools and roadshows.

He agreed to provide the council with some packs that could be handed out to local people, as well as some biodegradable bags.
