Local Drug and Alcohol Charity the Rising Sun Trust welcomed a special guest to their premises in Workington.

Rob Phillips , Construction Manager  of  Costain  Oil, Gas & Process Ltd based at Sellafield, wasn’t just there to take a guided tour and meet all the staff and clients.

He was also there to hand over a cheque for £1,006 as the company had pledged to match all the money raised by The Trust at a Charity Race Night held last month at the Whitehaven Rugby League Club.

Afterwards Phillips said “This visit has really shown me just how much work the Rising Sun Trust does to help those affected by drug and alcohol misuse.

“I had met some of the staff on the evening of the race night and was impressed by their dedication and enthusiasm.  Costain  are proud to support the Trust’s work and this visit has given me more insight into the wide ranging problems the clients face.

“The projects run by The Trust to help combat this problem benefit the community as a whole and this contribution will, we hope, help the Trust to continue the good work and we will look to do more to help in the future “

Dave Smith, founder of the Trust commented:   “To have a company like Costain  supports us in this way is tremendous. Their staff supported the Race Night extremely well and enabled us to raise a good amount and for the company to come forward and match that amount shows that we as an organisation are making a difference within the community.

“To have  Costain recognise the importance of what we are doing and be proactive by supporting the Trust with this contribution is testament to their own commitment to helping our community “
