A new UK online rural friendship and dating service has achieved it's first love match just three weeks after the website launched.

Country Couples was set up from a farm in Cumbria, where the site designer knows about problems associated with an isolated rural lifestyle.

A 39 year old Cumbrian farmer and 37-year-old woman both requested to leave after just one week, as they had found what they were looking for – each other.

The brainchild of Cumbrian woman Sally Bolton, she said: “I was astonished at first, then they explained they had known each other for years but had not had contact for a long time, hence not knowing they were both once again single.

“As soon as they saw each other on the website they made contact, went out and are now pursuing a romantic relationship together”.

She added: “In a bid to pursue the ideal country lifestyle, I moved from a city career to self employment in a Cumbrian village a few years ago and it was a real culture shock for me, where on earth could I meet people? It wasn’t as though I could go and hang out by myself at the local pub. I tried online dating sites but despite the adverts of millions of members, there were so few rural people in the UK registered.”

It was then Sally decided to research the niche market aspect of online dating and began the planning of Country Couples as a virtual meeting place for like-minded country folk.
