A spokesperson from Radiation Free Lakeland said:  "Only by countering the propaganda of the  carbon free and safe nuclear spin will the juggernaughtbe halted. This is a much needed proactive campaign to stop the building of new nuclear power stations and prevent climate chaos"

All but one UK nuclear power stations are due to close by 2023. No Need for Nuclear think this generation of nuclear power should be the last.

Nuclear power is not necessary to meet the UK's electricity demand, it is more expensive than renewable alternatives, and is not carbon-neutral.

This is a big campaign ask, since the new coalition Government has already decided that the UK nuclear industry should be allowed to grow.

A spokesperson for No Need for Nuclear said: “This means we're going to need all the help we can get in order to convince them otherwise. Please visit our activism pages to find out how you can help.

“Our goal is to stop the building of new nuclear power stations in the UK.

“We are going to work towards this in a number of ways, both at a parliamentary level and a national level.

“At Parliamentary Level we are supporting the Climate Change (Sectoral Targets) Bill, which promotes a mixture of renewables, microgeneration and energy efficiency in order to meet the UK's electricity demand up to 2050 and beyond.

“We are asking MPs to show their support for this Bill by signing up to the Early Day Motion (more details soon).

“We are calling for a full-scale parliamentary investigation into the supposed need for nuclear in meeting UK electricity demand.

“At National Level we are trying to dispel the commonly held belief that nuclear is a necessary evil. Through publications and an online presence, we are presenting the alternative arguments – that nuclear is unnecessary, expensive and carbon-intensive.

“We are mobilising a large group of grass-roots supporters across the country. Through them we will organise public meetings in areas where nuclear power stations are being proposed. The public will be able to meet MPs and representatives of the nuclear industry, and will be able to challenge their decisions face-to-face.

“No Need for Nuclear is an independent lobbying group which started in 2010.  We run solely on charitable contributions.  Our campaign is supported by a number of organisations, including Radiation Free Lakeland, whose names and details can be found on our website:
