The auction of a painting by Threlkeld artist Jonathan Trotman, which features in a new book about Lake District mountain running legend Joss Naylor, will raise more funds for the Eden Valley Children’s Hospice in Carlisle.
Already a packed launch event for the book Joss, by Keith Richardson, at Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake, has raised almost £4,000.
Now Jonathan has decided to auction the painting which fills a full page in the book with e-bay style online bidding. Sixty per cent of the proceeds will go towards the Children’s Hospice.
He got the idea of auctioning the painting after attending the event at the local theatre last month when talks were given by the award winning author, broadcaster Eric Robson and Joss himself, who took to the stage accompanied by his sheepdog Spy. Joss donated the proceeds of the talk to the Hospice.
The painting shows Joss Naylor descending Crib Goch and is from a 1960’s photograph taken by John Cleave.
