Friday, 11 April 2008
Newlands ValleyA new local development framework, which will guide the future development of the Lake District National Park, is being sent out to councils and communities to express their views.

The report presented to LDNPA members, was drawn up after extensive consultation with people on issues as diverse as housing, climate change, transport, employment, tourism, and the nuclear issue.

From this research a detailed list of preferred options has been drawn up for people to comment on from 30 May for a six week period.

The report set out to show the Authority’s vision to have a prosperous economy, vibrant communities and world class visitor experiences within a truly inspirational spectacular landscape.

Director of planning and partnerships Steve Ratcliffe said the LDF represented the start of a new era for the national park and one which local communities needed to have the chance to make comments on.

“This document is full of innovative options on issues that really matter. It looks at all the issues and tries to ensure distinctiveness of the landscape and our communities,” he added.
