                                                          MOTOR SPORT

Well we have done it, West Cumbria Motorsport Club will run the Greystoke rally this coming weekend with a nearly full entry, writes WHEELSPIN.

To run the rally started out as an idea whilst having a committee meeting last year and after a couple of weeks to ponder over it, it was decided to give it a go.

We put a cap of 60 cars on the entry mainly to protect the forest but also as this was going to be our first rally in nearly seven years, not to mention our first Forest rally we wanted to crawl before we walked.

A Committee was put together and started to plan the rally, it has been hard work for all those involved and each of the committee members did their own thing to make this work.

Not mentioning anyone individually, as everyone was needed to pull this off, but they know who they are and a BIG well done to all on the Greystoke Committee.

It has been mentioned a few times that rallying itself is a dying sport and yes, granted rallying is an expensive sport, but we have to remember that any sport can be expensive if you let it.

The Greystoke Rally will run this Sunday with a field of 56 cars just four short of a maximum field, with all the local motor clubs represented.

Our own club has 14 crews entered and along with Kirby Lonsdale’s 11 crews, make up the bulk of the local entries.

If you would like to go along and Marshall there is still time to register, by phoning Irving Wilson on 07519838007.

All Marshalls will receive a Greystoke Rally Bottle of Beer, with the Clubs own label on it and also their names will be put into a Marshall’s draw.

We can’t rally without them so this is a ‘thank you’ from the Club.
