There is a new rally to add to your calendar this year as West Cumbria Motorsport Club plans to run their Greystoke Forest Rally on July 13.
This will end a seven-year break when, unfortunately, they lost their old venue to the foot and mouth crisis in 2001.
Greystoke Forest, which is near Penrith, is the venue and is well used to rally cars as it is where M-Sport regally test their World Rally Cars in preparation for the World Rallying Championship.
In fact the head of M-Sport Malcolm Wilson is the WCM clubs president.
The rally itself will hopefully be a breath of fresh air for the local Rally fraternity as it is the only single venue forest rally in this area.
A spokesman said: “With us keeping the cost's down to a minimum of £295 - and for a forest event consisting of 35 miles that is pretty good 0 the entry list is slowly growing in numbers.
At the last count there were 30 so we are hoping for a good day.”
Anyone wanting to enter the rally can check the details on the clubs web site www.wcmcrallying.co.uk.
In addition anyone offering to Marshall on the event should get in touch with Irving Wilson on 07519838007..
