PENRITH boxer Ally Morrison has the fight of his life lined-up on Friday night against an Olympic gold medallist.

Morrison, 31, has only had three pro fights and won two on points while drawing the other but he faces a tough test against James DeGale who is aiming for his third straight early knockout when he returns to the ring.

DeGale (pictured below) has boxed only six rounds since he turned professional at the beginning of the year - but says he has plenty of time to accumulate experience in the ring.

Although the clash with unbeaten Morrison is scheduled for six rounds, the Harlesden super-middleweight plans to send him the same way as his last two opponents, Jindrich Kubin and Ciaran Healy.

The latter pair were both pulled out in the first round and DeGale said: "You can see how I've come on in each fight I've had so far. This will be the same.

"He's unbeaten but it ain't going to stay that way - I'm going to go out and blast him. I view my fights as just a glamorous sparring session, with the entrance and all that.

"I'm learning my trade every day in the gym and then I show what I've learned in the ring. I wouldn't mind getting a couple of rounds in, but if he goes he goes - you don't get paid overtime.

"I've only been a pro for nine months, I feel I'm adapting fantastically now and whoever Frank [Warren] brings up to fight me is going to get beaten.

"I haven't boxed for three months, but I'm going to be pretty busy from now on. The aim was always to have six fights in my first year, hopefully in the year after that I'll have eight and build gradually."

Morrison will face DeGale on the undercard of Tony Quigley's British super-middleweight title defence against Paul Smith.

With both Quigley and Smith hailing from Merseyside, Liverpool's Echo Arena was a logical choice of venue - although it means that DeGale has yet to fight as a pro in his home city.

And, provided the former Dale Youth amateur disposes of Morrison, his next outing will be even further from London - on the undercard of Amir Khan's title clash with Dmitriy Salita in Newcastle on December 5.
