The 29-year-old former Wath Brow amateur loose forward damaged his shoulder during the club's pre-season training camp at an army barracks in Kent.

The London club have announced the skipper's inclusion is in doubt for the opener against the Wildcats on January 30 at the Twickenham Stoop.

A club spokesman said: "We are seeking medical advice at present and an announcement will be made later this week."
Purdham, who represented England in the 2008 World Cup, was ruled out for two months last season with a blood clot in his hand.
