gameon_logo_internet.gifWHITEHAVEN’S first prestigious friendly game at the Recreation Ground tomorrow will go ahead.

A pitch inspection this afternoon confirmed that ground staff expected the surface to be ready for the visit of Huddersfield Giants.

General manager Nigel Beaty said: "There is some surplus water to get off the pitch but the game will be on.”

Whitehaven will have Spencer Miller back in action, added to the squad which romped home 60-6 in the Ike Southward Memorial game at Derwent Park against Workington Town three weeks ago.

He was unable to play against Town because of work commitments but was a key player in Ged Stokes’ squad last season.

"He’s an excellent member of our squad who has earned the respect of all those round him and I’m sre he’s going to be an influential performer this time round,” said Stokes.

The Haven coach and fans will be looking forard to seeing former player Gregg McNally perform for the Giants following his permanent move.

"By now he will be getting fully attuned to Super League preparation as he's had four months with the Giants and I can see him making a natural progression," said Stokes.
