Workington Town coach Dave Rotheram is reported to be chasing the 27-year-old Keighley Cougars forward Chris Redfearn.
The former Hunslet Hawks and Bradford Bulls loose-forward has been offered a contract at Lawkholme Lane for 2009.
But in company with three other members of the Keighley squad, who have been offered new terms, he is considering his options and Workington are believed to be in the frame.
An experienced National Two performer like Redfearn – described as a players’ player – would be extremely valuable for Rotheram after seeing the likes of Matt Tunstall, Shaun Lunt, Chris Young and Carl Forber all move out over the last few weeks.
Although half-back remains the Town coach’s priority, a ball playing loose-forward like Redfearn would be a valuable asset especially now that he has added Barrow’s seasoned second rower Mike Whitehead to the Derwent Park squad.
