BLACKPOOL chairman Bobby Hope, a local hotelier, has resigned after growing reports of financial unrest at the Fylde-based club.
Former chairman John Chadwick (pictured) has taken temporary charge of the Panthers to try and steady the ship.
The Panthers have been going well on the field this season, leading Co-operative Championship One until losing their last two games.
There have been reports of players not being paid and coach Martin Crompton is said to have been considering his position.
Workington Town will get a first-hand account of the position as they visit Blackpool on Sunday – probably a good time to take-on the Panthers.
They have also been rocked by the news that prop Andy Hobson has been suspended for five matches and fined £50 by the RFL Disciplinary Committee after being found guilty of two offences in his side’s game against York City Knights on Sunday May 30.
Hobson was banned for one match for a Grade B trip on York’s Luke Hardbottle in the first minute of the Co-operative Championship One fixture.
The 31-year old was also suspended for four matches after being found guilty of a Grade D offence of using his forearm on Nathan Freer in the 80th minute of the same match.
