WORKINGTON Town have added another two players to the register for the 2009 season – and both are young men with promise.
Thomas Brindle, a 21-year-old prop forward, was in the Wigan side which beat St. Helens 32-10 in the Reserve Grade Championship final last week-end.
Mark Hobson, also 21, can play loose-forward or hooker and was a regular member of Salford’s reserve grade side this season when he skippered the team.
When Salford held their presentation night recently Hobson took the award for the players’ player of the year – always a coveted trophy as it is voted on by the people you play alongside.
Town coach Dave Rotheram knows Brindle well from the time he coached England Schoolboys and the Wigan youngster was in the squad. He has been at Wigan for five years.
Although still looking for some more experience, Rotheram is pleased with the quality of the younger element in his squad. Eleven players registered with the west Cumbrians for next season are aged 22 or under.
