Workington Town’s troubles increased with a 66-6 derby battering at Barrow against the rampant Raiders.
The home side scored 13 tries in a one-sided affair and the avalanche of points took them to the top of National Two on points differential from Doncaster.
That’s ominous in itself for Doncaster are Workington’s next opponents, at Derwent Park on Sunday, May 18 as they take a break this week-end because of the Challenge Cup games.
Workington had no answer to Barrow's sustained attacks, with Raiders scoring 30 of their points in the last quarter of the game.
Mike Whitehead (pictured) scored a hat-trick while Liam Finch marked his return to Barrow from Whitehaven with a brace of tries. James Nixon and Brad Nicholls also crossed twice each.
Workington’s only points came from a try by Ta’ane Lavulavu which was converted by Carl Forber.
The game was watched by a crowd of 1,147.
