PENRITH have been handed a home tie in the second round of the EDF Energy Intermediate Cup – against Carlisle’s conquerors.
A late try gave Rochdale a 13-8 home win over the city side on Saturday and now they have to travel to Cumbria to take-on Penrith on November 22.
It’s a good reward for Penrith after they became the first team to beat North Two East leaders Billingham in the first round on Saturday.
Rochdale have started the season impressively, though, and are 100% leaders of North Two West – the equivalent of Penrith’s North Two East.
With Carlisle’s defeat, Penrith are the only Cumbrian club still standing in the Intermediate Cup.
The full draw is: Darlington v Cleckheaton; Driffield v Gateshead; Durham City v West Hartlepool; Liverpool St Helens v West Park (St Helens); Middlesbrough v Old Crossleyans; Penrith v Rochdale; Rossendale v Stockport; Sandal v Northwich; Sheffield Tigers v Morley.
